Date of Arrival: March 17, 2023
Age: 4 ½ yrs old (Birthday July 27, 2018)
Size: 17 lbs
Adoption Status: Kiah is available for adoption.
Must Haves: Fully fenced yard, a quieter home where she's not left alone too often, cake on her birthday
Personality: Kiah is a beautiful little dog with a temperament to match! Living in a house was all new to her, but she's a quick study! She has bonded to her foster and follows her new human around the house. Kiah can sit on command and is learning to lie down. She has also learned the house rules, like which furniture she can hang out on, and which furniture is only for the humans. She is quiet and loves to be near her people.
House training/Pee Pad Training: Kiah is outdoor trained.
Walks/leash training: Kiah is doing well with leash training and loves going for walks. Sometimes loud noises and traffic can be a bit scary for her, so her adopter will want to help her work through this.
Children: Kiah would do best in a home with older children, or with a retired couple who can spend lots of time with her. She is very skittish with fast movements and lots of noise, so a loud and energetic household or a home with young kids would not be ideal.
Dogs, Cats and Other Friends: Kiah loves other dogs and is doing great with her foster brother. She tolerates his antics, but will let him know when she's had enough! She would enjoy having a canine sibling in her new home. Kiah does not do well with cats.
Best Home Environment: Kiah loves walks and cuddling on the couch. She has learned that she is okay being left home alone (with the company of her canine foster brother) for periods of time, but a home where she is immediately on her own for several hours a day (eg. while the humans are at work or school) would not be a good fit. A work-from-home or hybrid work situation would be better for this little lady. She needs humans who can continue the work of leaving her alone for progressively longer periods. As Kiah is a flight risk, she will need a fully fenced yard.
Health: Kiah is a clinically healthy dog. She does have luxating patellas, which is quite common for small dogs.
History: Kiah is an owner-breeder surrender. We are so thankful that Kiah found her way to Cupcakes!
Adoption Fee: Kiah's adoption fee is $450.00
