Butter

Last Updated: September 10th, 2023

Date of Arrival: July 26, 2023

Age: 5 years old (Born March 23, 2018)

Breed: Pomeranian X

Size: Approx. 16 lbs

Gender: Female

Adoption Status: We are accepting applications for Butter

Personality: Butter is a very sweet girl who has come along way since coming into rescue. She's become much more happy and comfortable. She loves to be outside playing. She's not huge into cuddling but loves to sit in her basket where she can keep an eye on everyone.

House training/Pee Pad Training: Butter is doing great with housetraining and only has the odd accident. What a long way she's come!

Walks/leash training: Butter has started leash training but has no previous experience with leashes or walks so she hasn't quite got the hang of walking while wearing a leash yet.

Children: Butter has been a bit growly with her foster mom's young, busy grandchild so she will need a home with older or no children.

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends: Butter is making friends with the dog in her foster home and is doing well. Her canine foster brother is a similar size and energy level to Butter. She has been a bit snarly and growly towards one dog similar in size to her who is "bossy" so she will need a proper introduction to make sure any new dog buddy will be a good fit.

Best Home Environment:

  1. Humans who will be patient, accept where she is at in her emotional and social development, and actively engage her to bring her along to be a confident trusting little dog.

  2. Humans who will not be impatient and expect her to be all they want in a day or a week. Butter is taking her time in warming up to people, but we expect if she is given the time and patience, she will bond to her new owner and be a loyal and loving companion.

  3. Butter would do well with another dog in the home who is well-balanced and confident and can help her learn about being a dog in a home.

Butter is a flight risk as she does not have any recall skills. Secure fencing and people who are diligent to ensure her safety is an absolute must.

A note about secure fencing: While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could "dig out" from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk: A flight risks can be the result of many things: fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of a fence. Any of these reasons could lead to a dog looking to break free of a leash or seek out gaps in fencing so they can move beyond the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enroll in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. The purpose in such participation is to build trust between human and dog, to help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills. These things are in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health: To be assessed

History: Butter is an owner/breeder surrender

Adoption Fee: When Butter is ready for adoption, her adoption fee will be $450
