Ruthie

Last Updated:  November 2, 2024

Date of Arrival:  September 24, 2024

Age:  1 - 1½ years old

Breed:  Pomeranian

Size:  11-12 lbs

Gender:  Female

Adoption Status:  We are accepting applications for Ruthie

Must Haves:  A calm home and lots of love.

Personality:  Ruthie came to us a rather reserved and timid young lady. We expect that as she becomes more confident over time, her sass will become evident. She likes to spend time with her fosters and sleeps next to them at night.

House training/Pee Pad Training:  Ruthie is using pee pads in the house, but housetraining is new to her, so she may need patience as she adjusts to a new home.

Walks/Leash Training:  Ruthie does well on a leash and likes going for walks.

Children:  We are told that Ruthie likes children.

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends:  Ruthie would enjoy having another dog in the home as a companion. Although she doesn't play with them, she gets along well with the foster dogs in her home.

Best Home Environment:  Ruthie is quite timid at this point and we are looking for a home that will help her come out of her shell. She runs and hides when noises in the house startle her, and even squeaky toys are a bit scary at this point. Ruthie needs a home with calm and confident humans, who can help her learn that the unknown isn't always scary and that when she does feel concerned, she can look to her people for direction instead of running away. Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.

A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health:  Ruthie has completed her vetting and is a clinically healthy dog.

History:  Ruthie is an owner surrender.

Adoption Fee:  Ruthie's adoption fee is $500.

Please download our application and follow instructions to apply for any of our dogs in care.

Please note we do not review and process any applications until a dog is ready for adoption.
