Last Updated: July 12th, 2026
Date of Arrival: July 3rd, 2026
Age: Approximately 3
Breed: Chihuahua x
Size: Approx 10lbs
Gender: Female
Adoption Status: Nela is not yet ready for adoption

Personality: Nela is a very sweet but nervous girl. She is working hard to come out of her shell and learn about the big beautiful world and all of the lovely pups and people in it.
House training/Pee Pad Training: In progress
Walks/Leash Training: Nela is quite scared at the moment so we are focusing on keeping her safe by keeping her inside fully fenced yards.
Children: TBD
Dogs, Cats and Other Friends: Nela is good with her doggie foster sibling

Best Home Environment: Nela will need someone who will give her the love, time, and patience needed to become her best self. She was very shut down when she came into rescue and has begun to blossom but it will take more time. Right now she spends alot of time near her crate which is her safe space. She is starting to follow the humans around when they think she is not looking and also loves basking in the sunlight and exploring the fully fenced yard.
Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.
A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.
A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.
We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health: TBD
History: Nela is an owner surrender
Adoption Fee: 0-12 months - $600 || 1-8 years - $500 || 9+ years - $400
