Adoption Status:  Esme is available for adoption

Personality:  Esme loves being outside in the yard and is a very sweet little girl. She is a vert quiet girl but will occasionally let out a howl is she's feeling lonely. She loves cuddles and being close to her people.

House training/Pee Pad Training:  Esme is housetrained though she will not initiate going outside. She also needs help coming back inside when she's finished - her recall isn't quite there yet.

Walks/Leash Training:  Esme is becoming more exploratory on her walks but doesnt not like to walk very far.

Children:  She would likely be okay with dog-davvy kids who understand she needs her space.

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends:  She has been good with the other dogs she has met so far.

Best Home Environment:  Esme will absolutely need a fully fenced yard. She has also decided that she will be sleeping up on the bed with her humans who help her feel safe and loved so she will need people who want this too. She needs people who will give her lots of love and help her continue to grow in her confidence.

Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.

A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health:  She healthy aside from the typical wonky knees (luxaing patella) these little ones often have.
