Personality:  Chewie is a sweet and happy girl. She loves belly rubs and cuddles, and is quite playful.

House training/Pee Pad Training: Chewie is fully housetrained

Walks/Leash Training:  Chewie does well on a leash, although sometimes she needs to be reminded of her leash manners.

Children:  We don't foresee any issues with children interacting with Chewie, however she does jump up on people, so we would recommend a home with children five years and older

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends:  Chewie is good with dogs and cats

Best Home Environment:  TBD

Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.

A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health:  Chewie has diabetes and requires a daily insulin shot. She is somewhat overweight, and both her weight loss and exercise will need to be monitored with the vet, in order to keep her blood sugars level.

History:  Chewie came to us through Winnipeg Animal Services. We thank them for entrusting Chewie to our care.

Adoption Fee:  Chewie's adoption fee is $400
