Chopper

Last Updated: October 13, 2026
Date of Arrival: September 16, 2026
Age: 1.5
Breed: Shih Tzu x
Size: Approx 12lbs
Gender: Male
Adoption Status: We are accepting applications for Chopper. He will be ready to move once healed from his upcoming neuter.

Personality: Chopper is an absolute sweet pea. Even though his facial expression is a bit of a grouchy one, he is a very happy boy. He rides perfectly in a car and has loved everyone he has met so far in rescue. He also has started loving sleeping with his human mom in bed. Now that's a step up from outdoor living!
House training/Pee Pad Training: Chopper had been used to living outside so he is working hard on his housetraining.
Walks/Leash Training: Chopper walks very well on a leash and enjoys his time outside.
Children: Chopper LOVES the kids in his foster family and showers them with kisses and cuddles.
Dogs, Cats and Other Friends: Chopper is very sweet with all the creatures he has met so far. He loves to play with his foster brother!

Best Home Environment: We will update as we continue to get to know Chopper but he seems like an easy-going guy. We know he LOVES kids and think he'd love to have some of his own in her forever home. He would also love a fur play mate!
Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.
A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.
A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.
We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health: Chopper has his neuter tomorrow and then will have completed his vetting.
History: Chopper is a breeder surrender
Adoption Fee: 0-12 months - $600 || 1-8 years - $500 || 9+ years - $400
