Personality:  Murphy is a super puppy! He loves walks and naps and bully sticks, and is usually up for a cuddle session. He also enjoys trying to encourage the older dogs in his foster home to play with him. They are not convinced his puppy energy is what they want in life, but he is not deterred (classic little brother).

House training/Pee Pad Training:  Murphy is working on his house training.

Walks/Leash Training:  Murphy is excellent on a leash.

Children:  Murphy lived with children before coming to Cupcakes. He has shown some resource guarding behaviours, so we would recommend a home with older or dog savvy kids. His foster is working on this behaviour with him, and his adopters will want to plan to continue to help him with this.

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends:  Murphy is good with dogs and cats.

Best Home Environment:  As Murphy is still a young dog, we would like to see him go to a family that will continue to work on his training. Murphy is quite food motivated. He is very good on a leash, and he would do well in a home where walks are a regular part of his schedule. As he has shown some resource guarding behaviours, we are looking for a home without young children. He currently sleeps in his kennel at night, and protests for a few minutes, and then settles for the night. He would also love a playful dog sibling, but ideally in a home without shared walls, as he is not afraid to use his voice when he is playing with the other dogs in his foster home.

Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.

A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health:  Murphy is a clinically healthy dog. He will be neutered before he is adopted.

History:  Murphy was an owner surrender.

Adoption Fee:  Murphy's adoption fee is $600.
