Date of Arrival: December 11th, 2025
Age: 3
Breed: Mixed breed
Size: Approximately 20lbs
Gender: Female
Adoption Status: We are accepting applications for Piper. She will be ready to go to her forever home after her pending dental.

Personality: Piper is an beautiful, independent girl who also loves to be with her chosen people. She is very well behaved, sweet and also very smart. Her foster family thinks she would make a great agility dog! She attaches to the female in the home very quickly and loves to lay on your lap. She has lots of energy but settles very quickly. Piper believes strongly in her bedtime and puts herself to bed in her kennel at 9pm promptly every night. She absolutely loves her walks and being brushed! Piper is the kind of dog who needs a little bit of time to warm up to people but will become your best friend if you feed her her favourite treats!
House training/Pee Pad Training: Piper is housetrained. She goes to the door when she wants out or if you ask her. She waits patiently to be let out.
Walks/Leash Training: Piper enjoys walks. Agility and walks are great for Pipers breed so that she can relax afterwards.
Children: Piper came from a home with smaller children. In foster care we have found her to be fairly indifferent to children. She is not overly playful and for the most part ignores them and would prefer to just relax. For this reason older children would probably best or dog savvy children that will respect her quiet time.
Dogs, Cats and Other Friends: Piper arrived in rescue with her pom brother Pierre. As far as we know Piper did well with her sibling that was of similar size. However, in rescue we have found she does ok with other dogs for a period of time and then changes her mind and has enough of them! We think Piper would do best as the only dog in the home. She seems fine with other dogs on walks etc, but perhaps over time she does not like a full time sibling sharing her home/domain.
We will also be looking for a forever home without cats or small animals like rabbits etc. She did chase after the cat in her first foster home, although she listens to no and correction a no cat home would be best. It is in her nature as a rat terrier to chase!
Best Home Environment: She likes running around the backyard, so we will be seeking a home with a fully secure, fenced yard and a family that will enjoy walks with her. She also likes sleeping in bed with her family. She loves to cuddle! She is fully house trained and non destructive when left alone.
Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.
A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.
A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.
We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health: Piper is healthy, has completed her spay and will be ready to move after her dental.
History: Piper is an owner relinquish
Adoption Fee: 0-12 months - $600 || 1-8 years - $500 || 9+ years - $400
