Personality:  Pumpkin is a little character! He is smart, goofy, likes attention, and likes to tell you he likes attention! He is quite curious and not afraid of anything.

House training/Pee Pad Training:  Pumpkin is house-trained

Walks/Leash Training:  Pumpkin loves going for walks and is good on a leash. He gets very excited when he sees his harness and leash come out.

Children:  Pumpkin is great with kids, although we would recommend children over 5, as he is quite small.

Dogs, Cats and Other Friends:  Pumpkin is good with dogs and cats. He's even good at trying to be friends with cats that might prefer to be left alone.

Best Home Environment:  Pumpkin would do best in a home without shared walls. He loves to communicate with his voice.

Preference may be given to a home with a securely fenced yard.

A note about secure fencing - While each dog is different in the level of security needed, we require the fence be of a height that the dog could not jump over (some of our dogs can easily scale a 5 foot fence), no gaps in fencing, gate is secure, and the bottom of the fence is also free from gaps or areas where a dog could dig out from underneath.

A note about being a flight risk - Flight risk can be the result of many things, including fear, lack of "street-wise" skills, or incredible curiosity for the sights, smells, and sounds on the other side of the fence. Any of these reasons could lead to the dog attempting to break free of their leash or seek out gaps so they can move past the fence.

We strongly encourage adopters to enrol in a basic obedience course with the dog they adopt. Participating in an obedience course can help build trust between human and dog, help the dog gain confidence and social interaction skills, and build strong recall skills, in addition to the on and off leash skills that basic obedience training can provide.

Health:  Pumpkin has completed his vetting and is a clinically healthy dog. He was asymptomatic, but tested positive for Lyme disease when he came to us. He completed the treatment, and will require a follow-up blood test in six months. Pumpkin also has minor luxating patellae (common in small breed dogs). This is not something that requires medical attention at this time, but it should be monitored.

History:  Pumpkin was an owner surrender.

Adoption Fee:  Pumpkin's adoption fee is $500.
